My favorite Color Combo Part 2...The "girly" Version

Yesterday I shared a card with you that used my favorite guy color combo..and today...I am sharing the girly version of that same color combo...blue...tan..ivory....and have this time...I've used Stampin Ups Not Quite Navy with Crumb Cake (aka Kraft) and Very Vanilla...with an added touch of Old Olive (ribbon and bird image)

My Favorite "Guy" Card Color Combo

I have always loved this color combo for guy things....clothes....decor....and yes...cards!
back in the 80's...i discovered my love of this navy..tan and cream color combo when I made an afghan for a male friend..and I have loved it ever since.

I have long since retired my crochet hooks....and have replaced them with anything and everything related to card stock..ink..and rubber stamps.....and still...I have found myself going back to this color combination countless times when creating "guy cards"...

This Father's Day card is CAS (my style of choice!) and is ideal, I think, for Sketch Challenge #3 over at Card and a Half and it's done in my favorite guy color combo...using Stampin Ups Not Quite Navy, Creamy Caramel and Very Vanilla

While I love this color combo for guy" cards....I know that it translates well to feminine cards..and so tomorrow I'll share a second card...also created for this card challenge...using similar colors...

Stampin'... Stampin'...Stampin'.....for a Moxie Fab Challenge!

I've received some emails asking about the background print on this card (posted here on my blog earlier this month).....
so..I thought I'd answer the questions.....and while I am at it...tell you that I am entering this card in a challenge at Stamp It! Cards Week Challenge in the Moxie Fab World ......and if you've created a card in which stamping is the predominant element....be sure to visit Cath Edvalson..at the Papercrafts Moxie Fab World Blog to enter your card in thie weeks challenge!

So...now...onto my card....
here I created one card...used two colors (*Basic Grey and Very Vanilla card stock) and lots of stamping with one beautiful stamp set....(The Open Sea...from Stampin up!)..and the result is what you see below!..and oh!...yes... I almost forgot to mention that I used a Color Spritzer (for the little "splatter" of ink dots around the image of the ship)

Now....about the background..which is what everyone asked about ...
I used the globe and the stamp that replicates a ships manifest for the background...using Stampin Up Basic Grey Classic ink on Basic Grey card stock...stamp stamp stamp.....and wha-la!..a beautiful background pattern that coordinates with the ship image from the same stamp set!
(I love creating background patterns with stamps...using the same color ink as the card stock...like I did here...with Basic Grey)

I enjoyed making this card SO much..and am looking forward to making a few more of them to keep on hand for "guy" occasions...

P.S....don't you just love the little stamped anchor that I cut out and used as an embellishment! (the anchor is another stamp included in "The Open Sea" stamp set)

Spritzer fun.....

Every so often I dig out a tool or supply that I haven't used in a while....put us both on the guest list.....and the I throw a little reunion party....

This time the guest of honor was the Stampin Up Color Spritzer Tool...
As soon as we were reunited..I realized how much I had missed my Spritzer....

After a wonderful reunion..I decided to throw another party..same guest of honor..but a bigger guest list..
and so...I brought my Spritzer to last month's card making Workshop.....and introduced it to the ladies who attended...and the party took off!

This is the "Spritzerized" card that we did..(we always make 4 of each of 2 cards at every workshop...)...
once everyone got the hang of how much pressure to put on the Spritzer bulb..the fun began!

The Spritzer...the colors (*Basic Grey and Very Vanilla).....and Stamp set (*The Open Sea) and the Designer Series Paper (*Nautical Expedition) ....were all a big hit!

Imagine...a color and generic as Basic Grey being a hit! (that was our color that night....we always work off of one Stampin Up color each month)

So without further ado...I give you our "Spritzerized" card

...and here it is again...side by side ...with the second workshop card for that evening..also using Basic Grey ....our color of the night......along with Concord Crush...Pretty in Pink and Very Vanilla...

Cherry Cobbler...a wonderful color

Every so often...in the creative process...you work with something that you find that you really love...maybe a little bit more than other materials, parts, pieces and supplies that you've loved in the past....
For me...that feeling came when I decided to make some cards for next weeks workshop...using Stampin Up's Cherry Cobbler....
I like red tones..but not fire engine red...and Cherry Cobbler turned out to be a nice deep rich warm red tone...bold enough..but not shouting "look at me..but put on your sunglasses first!"

These are the 2 cards that we will be re creating at next weekends workshop...(we'll make 4 of each for a total of 8 cards)

*High 5 and thumbs up to you, Cherry Cobbler...(I think you will become a fave of mine for holiday cards this year!

A Very Vintage Valentine

I am still catching up with sharing recent cards here on my blog...and am excited to share these vintage Valentine's with you.
These were created with free on-line printables that I found while browsing different web sites

These cards were a cinch to make....and were a big hit with my 2 Valentine sweethearts...my daughter, Chelsea.....and fiance'....Gary...

I also used these adorable images (and some others) with the ladies at my monthly Workshop...and they were a big hit!

I also posted the first card (below) to my FB page..and offered to make one for any local friends who might want one... so that they could give it to their own Valentine sweetheart..
as it turned out..quite a few people liked the card enough to ask for one...and so I had a steady stream of friends coming to my house..to pick up their card

As much as I am an addicted and dedicated stamper..I can definitely see myself enjoying creating with Vintage images like these in the future...

(I still have, I think, one...or maybe 2...valentine card pics on my camera....Gary and Chelsea's cards...and will share them when I upload them to my computer..)

It's still cold out here on Long Island..but we have sunshine..and chirping birds..so I am hopeful that soon I'll see those beautiful crocuses poking their lavender heads thru the ground by our driveway....
Once I see those little purple flowers blooming...I'll know that I can do my Welcome Spring happy dance!

I won't profess to be doing any Spring cleaning yet...but I am feeling like I at least need to give more attention to my much neglected blog...and so I'm sharing a few photos of the cards that I whipped up for last month's card Making workshop...

The workshop ladies loved both cards..specially the square one..that fits into a std CD envelope (the kind with the clear round window on the front)

This weekend I'll be creating 2 additional cards..and prepping the kits for next weekend's Card Making Workshop...and will be sure to share photos here when they're done)..but first..I'll be back wiht a few Valentine card cuties that I think you'll like a lot :)

I hope that these cards inspire you..and lead you to your craftroom..to create some cards of your own!

Drum Roll please.....a Fast Card-a-Thon Update!

Hi Everyone..

The Card-a-Thon was yesterday..and it was a HUGE success.

Are you sitting???

Our grand total for the day was....3185 cards!!!!

yep..you read it right... in one day we created 3185 cards for our Military Heroes

Last year we created 1754 cards in one day at the Card-a-Thon and this year we had hoped to create 2000 cards...so 3185 is a thrill!

The Card-a-Thon could never have been the tremendous success that it was....without all of my SU and SCS friends who have been shipping supplies and materials to me...and Pastor Janet Porcher of the Oceanside First United Methodist Church for generously donating the churches spacious hall to us for the day (as she did last year)...
Thank You to...Marcie from ucutathome(.com) .... Diana from Scor-Pal .... Stampington and Company ....and my wonderful local friends who donated all of the materials and supplies...along with a group of wonderful dedicated and hard working volunteers who attended and created all of the fantastic cards!

My Thank You cannot be complete without adding an extra thank you to all of my monthly workshop ladies who have worked with me behind the scenes during the past months prepping materials....cutting ...scoring.....embossing....sorting etc...you have all been so generous of yourselves..and your time...and are very much the backbone of this event!

You are all appreciated beyond what words can convey!

Yes....I'm here.....Thinking that it can't be possible that it's already the middle of January...(and even more amazing...today my "baby"...aka my sweet daughter turns 17!

After being absent from my blog for so long..I had hoped to be back..to regular posting and sharing..and maybe even some blog candy here and there.....once the New Year began...not a genuine resolution....but just a "hope"...and a nice thought...
However.....seeing that it's already mid January..I think Ill take a rain check on that plan..and hope for better once the Card-a-Thon is over...

Yep!..the Card-a-Thon is THIS SUNDAY..January 23rd!
We are ready to roll..supplies ready..
card bases ready.
images stamped..colored..matted...
volunteers signed on....
....and a goal of making 2000 cards by the end of the day being held onto tightly..
wish us luck!

(I'll share photos after the event and let you know if we reached our lofty (aka CRAZZZZY) goal of creating 2000 cards!)

In the meantime..our Long Island weather is not so nice today...rain..sleet..snow..and lots of slippery ice all over the place....so while I'm home....safe and warm.....and thought I'd take a moment to do a fast blog post...

I am a CAS (Clean and s Simple) kind of card making gal..so cards like this always appeal to me

Our color palette that night focuses on Poppy parade..a really nice red ...and it worked well with Baja Breeze and Sahara Sand...don't you think so?

The Card-a-Thon is this weekend!

I can hardly believe that a years worth of planning and prep will all fall into place on Saturday!

This being said..I have not been creative at all..(for my own pleasure and enjoyment)...for months now..my creative tie has been limited to what i create and prepare for the monthly workshops that I do...thus the title of this blog post..." Thank Goodness for Workshop Commitments..." because
without my monthly workshops I have a feeling I'd be creating...NOTHING!

Don't get me wrong...I love creating for workshops and classes....
anytime I can create is time that I cherish and enjoy....
but I really do miss sitting down and creating "just because".

Anyway... this is the card that we did last Saturday
Our color palette that night was Concord Crush...and the card was a hit with everyone.
I hope that this card inspires you to get your hands on some Concord Crush ink and card stock...
(I am so NOT a purple person...but this color has already become a fave of mine)

Knee Deep in Card-a-Thon Stuff....

HELLO EVERYONE!!...

Can you hear my voice?
I am shouting to you from under a huge, and forever growing, heap of boxes..envelopes and packages that are beginning to arrive here for the Card-a-Thon....and have transformed my house into a warehouse of all sorts of card making supplies.

What's the Card-a-Thon you ask?

Well...I'll give you the Reader's Digest condensed version of the story...
This is how it all started..

Last year..I had this desire to create cards for our U.S. Military Heroes...I thought I'd do it on my own..and send them to Operation Write Home..and Operation Quiet Comfort...
Then I thought...hmmm...maybe I'll ask my Workshop ladies if they wanted to join me...

and from there..it too off..and all began to happen....

and so...l after many months of planning...getting donations from a few crating companies....posting threads on Splitcoaststampers.com asking for donations of colored images..and other card making goodies...I found that the response was FANNN-tastic!...
This was turning out to be much more than a handful of ladies getting together to make cards...

and so...last October (2009) I organized and hosted the first Card-a-Thon here in my home town
in hopes of making about 500 cards for our US military heroes...

The cards being made would all be sent to Operation Write Home..and Operation Quiet Comfort

Approximately 40 volunteers of all ages came that day and created cards from 10 a.m. - 6 pm...
and in the end... we didn't make 500 cards... or 1000 cards....
we made 1754 cards!!!

My blog has been VERY quiet lately..(no time to create)...but these are a few photos from last years card-a-thon....

The event was such a success..and the people who volunteered told me to count them in if I did another Card-a-Thon..

so...here I am..KNEE DEEP IN CARD-A-THON STUFF!

I started out with this years goal being 2000 cards........but am now thinking that with the donations I've already received..(and with what's YET to come)..we may be able to go beyond that insanely ridiculously huge number of 2000....and hopefully maybe even make it to 23...24...2500!!

The flip side of this is...I have not created a single thing sin ages..other than the featured cards and projects for the monthly workshops and crop that I do...

I am now feeling itchy about getting back to my card making..,,(I really miss my creative time)...so while I won't promise anything...to you..OR myself.....I'll say that I am hoping that by the time mid August rolls around..I'l be sharing some photos with you here..of things I'll be creating...

Enjoying Apricot Appeal, Pumpkin Pie and a 2 Page Layout

Ive always enjoyed creating with these 2 colors..and now that Apricot Appeal is retiring...I guess I am feeling a little bit sentimental..and so I opted to have the ladies in last night's Tuesday Evening Scrapbooking Class create these pages.

They did a fantastic job..some of the ladies replicated these pages exactly..and others switched things up..adding their own twist and personal style to both pages..

Apricot Appeal was very popular..(makes me think that it may be missed)

I have to add..if not for teaching these classes at the high school....I probably would not be creating pages at all....so I am glad to be motivated by the weekly classes......
I find that, over the years, I have truly become a card maker...and rarely scrap anymore...unless I "need" to focus on scrapping for a purpose.(aka workshops and classes)
Funny enough..I look at these pages..and see that my card making and scrapping styles truly do overlap.

It's happening!..and I am SO excited!

The planning for the October 2010 Card-a-Thon has officially begun.....
and I am SO excited!

Last October volunteers created1754 cards were made for our US military heroes with 10% donated supplies!
ALL of the cards were donated to Operation Write Home and Operation Quiet Comfort.

This years cards will also be sent, with a happy heart, to both of these wonderful organizations!

The "other" Card

This is the other Brocade Blue card that was done at last weekends Cards Only Workshop...

It's impossible...I think...to not love this color combo..(even tho I had a hard time getting the Certainly Celery card stock to show its true beautiful color in these photos..)

The combination embossing gives this card some great texture...and inking the Bashful Blue embossed layer together with using dimensionals....gave this card even a little bit more depth and dimension.

The ladies at the workshop enjoyed working on both of these cards..and I think that Brocade Blue being this months color was a well received.

Finally! Something to talk about!

I can't believe what I am seeing..
The last time I posted here on my blog was January 24th...
Can that be possible?
(That's almost 2 months!)

I need to get with the program and start giving some much needed attention to blog again...

This is one of the 2 card versions that was made at last nights Card Making Workshop that I do once a month.
If you've seen me post other info here on my blog about the monthly workshop...you already know that we use one color palette per workshop..

Last nights color was Brocade Blue....and i think that everyone liked the color..
It's been a while since we worked with a shade of blue..so this was a nice fresh new look on our palettes.
Brocade Blue..Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue seem made for one another...

This was a happy hectic weekend ...with a relaxing Saturday being bookended between my daughter's wonderful Sweet 16 Party on Friday night...and my website (The Card Galleria) finally becoming a reality tonight!!

Something for Someone Who is Dedicated to a (Very)Good Cause

My friend John is a Vet...and very passionate in his efforts focused on stopping the mistreatment of circus elephants....organizing protests...meetings with community leaders..and other individuals whom he hopes to engage in support of his dedication to bringing to light the ongoing mistreatment of circus elephants..and implementing changes that hopefully will bring positive change to how these beautiful animals are treated.....handled and used.

I wanted to make a set of note cards for him and so a while back I searched around for a stamp that would be reflective of these beautiful animals....and somehow portray their (natural) beauty...and convey a feeling of peace and tranquility...

In my search I came across every imaginable image of elephants (who knew there were SO many elephant stamps out there!)...but as soon as I saw this one...I knew it was the right one.

I love the image of mother and baby...and their trunks touching....I think it definitely captures and portrays the feeling that I had hoped to capture..and the combination of the cocoa..black and vanilla card stock seemed like a perfect fit..especially with using the Distressed Vintage Photo ink for the image itself......

With this being a set of cards for a guy....I kept the look clean...and simple...and in the end..I was very happy with how they turned out... (I hope he is too!)

I am Still Here....

Hi Everyone..

I am still here...not much creating has been going on...so my poor Blog has been VERY neglected...
actually..it's more like it was "abandoned"...temporarily...

I spent the first 2 1/2 weeks of December in bed with the flu..and then 3 more weeks out of bed..but housebound...feeling "not too great"....Gary and Chelsea stepped in and kept things going and i give each of them an A+++...and am grateful for their willingness to do their best at keeping up on things while I was in bed..so December is a big blur to me..with 5 weeks of being home..going nowhere and not doing a thing. (no cards...no housework...no big hullabaloo for Christmas here at our house..NOTHING)...(I did venture out one Day mid December thinking I was feeling okay....and did a Cards Only Daytime Workshop for 3 hours..but realized at the end of the day that opting to do that was a BIG mistake...and so back to bed I went for another week...

Finally last week..I realized that I am feeling a little bit more like my usual self..and have started to get back to normal..

I had my first all day monthly workshop of this new year on Saturday (had to cancel December)..and it felt SO good to be back in the creative mode...

Now I am anxious to start digging thru some of the things that I had ordered in December...while home sick.. I have unopened boxes here filled with lots of goodies..everything from 2 HUGE SU orders...to dies..nesties..stamps..card stock..gorgeous paper..lots of BG 6 x 6 pads...embellishments... a great order of Ornare piercing templates... copics...and lots more that I can't even remember...

I'll feel like its Christmas all over again when I finally open everything up...and have time to try things out...

..I hope that this fresh New Year brings only good and wonderful things to you...and I'll look forward to sharing some creativity with you here on my Blog....and to get back to visiting each of your blogs...

PS..the card pictured here is a simple very basic card that we made at the Monthly Cards Only Workshop this past weekend...this was the basic card..and then variations were made starting with this fold and basic sketch

Wow.... you know it's pathetic when you get excited about finding time to create a ("a" as in ONE) card!

It's been such a long time since I sat down and relaxed and created a card...just because"...and I have to say..I am missing my creative time...alot

The truth is..this card was not a "just because" card...Gary actually asked me to make a guy card for a friend...but wow...this almost felt like a leisurely relaxed block of time for card making and creating...so I am happily considering it a victory! I FINALLY sat down and made a card!!!

This card is very simple and basic...and a great card to make if you don't have oodles of time to get out lots of supplies and materials...I used some basic Stampin Up! card stock (Kraft, Black..Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla) and a nice "guy" type of image with a beautiful sentiment...and a nice pocket watch image used as a backgrund...all were stamped out with TH Distressed (Vintage Photo) ink...I also daubered all of the edges with the TH ink..(even the Kraft...Black and Chocolate Chip cs)..and DONE!

This is a simple nice card to make in multiples if you're needing to stock up on guy cards...
but for now..I'll allow myself to be happy that I found a little speck of time to make "a" card!

We Have a Blog Candy Winner!

Sorry for being a bit ate getting this post together to announce the Blog Candy winner for the Sizzix Alpha Die set...but today I was out all day...doing my Stampin Up! thing at an all day "Crop for a Cure"...(A crop organized a few times a year by two amazing dynamo ladies to raise funds for breast cancer research here on Long Island, where we have enormously huge and horrifying statistics for the number of breast cancer diagnoses...
Living in a cancer hub...we, here in local communities...are acutely aware of the need to raise funds that are directly applied to researching the possible "whys" for the alarmingly huge numbers for breast cancer on our Island.

To summarize...the event was a sell out..(110 scrappers and card makers..)...great food..great people..great fun...and a GREAT BIG SUCCESS!

and now..if you listen closely you'll hear a blog candy drum roll...and I'll happily shout that Martha (theneon/raining rubber) was assigned #13..and she is the BLOG CANDY WINNER! (Winner picked by random.org)

Hi everyone.. yes..I am still here..altho a bit MIA lately..and sadly..neglecting my blog

But while I haven't had much time for my blog.....a lot of other things have been getting my attention and occupying my time...

Biggest of all..the Card-a-Thon.. can you believe it?? Tomorrow is THE DAY...

For those of you who don't know what I've been up to....I have been organizing a Card-a-Thon for US Military Heroes... The cards made tomorrow will be sent to Cards for Heroes as well as Operation Quiet Comfort....

After months and months of planning...gathering donations of supplies (no cash)...sorting thru an unbelievable amount of donated materials...supplies...... paper...embellishments....images...and countless other card making supplies...(Thank you everyone!)...it's all going to happen tomorrow...

My wish was to have approximately 25..maybe 30 volunteers..but it looks like we may have about 50-60....this is beyond my hopes and expectations...(and calls and RSVPs are still coming in this morning..)

We will have volunteers who are adults..children...members of a sorority form Adelphi University here on Long Island...members of my daughters local high school Thespian troupe...neighbors...friends...and community members...and lots of ladies from my monthly workshop/crop/meetup.com) group along with their friends.....

if you are a local... it's not too late to join us.. just send me an email as your RSVP.. (**OR GO H E R E ) letting me know if you'd like to come for the morning session (10-1pm)...or the afternoon session (1 - 4pm.....and beyond...)

Wrapping up the Birthday Celebration with a Thank You card....

I wish I could tell you what has been keeping me so busy lately...the days are passing so quickly...

It really isn't one specific thing that's occupied my time......
its been a little bit of the upcoming Card-a-thon that will be happening on October 10th...
mixed in with 6 days of feeling like I was getting the flu...
a splash of "life in general"...
and some crafting and creating for Halloween...

and....this thank you card...that wraps up with a fantastic month long Birthday celebration over at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog

My theme during this month was "Garden Party"..and it's been lots of fun creating all sorts of things within that theme...

After creating invitations...centerpieces...cupcake holders...favors...goodie and treat holders..its time to end the party and create Thank You notes.. and so this is mine...(I LOVE this Sizzix Bigz Daisies #2 Die..and embossing the 3 layers makes it extra beautiful, I think)

And now..with the month long birthday party being behind me..it's time to look ahead to Fall..Autumn..and the upcoming Holidays..

Garden Party Flower Pot Cupcake Holder

The First Birthday of the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog has been going on this month..and will continue thru the end of September....and I have been busy creating things for my chosen party theme: Garden Party

I've been sharing my Garden Party creations with you here on my blog......and this week...I've created a cupcake holder for my garden party theme...

The tutorial is posted at the Cuttelbug Challenge Bog...and you'll be amazed at how easy 9and affordable) these cupcake holders are to make.. And best of all..they double as table decorations and can even hold a name card for table seating..

I've had lots of fun creating all sorts of things for my Garden Party theme...and have been inspired by what everyone on the design team has come up with...and I'm sure that you will be too!

Tomorrow's Workshop Cards

Time is flying by...and it's already time for the monthly Workshop/Crop that I organize... and these are the cards that we will be doing during the evening "cards only" workshop

I feel like we were all just together...yet its been a month...

The monthly Workshop/Crop is lots of fun..and a nice way to spend a relaxing day scrapping and card making with a group of awesome ladies...
We start our day at 10...have a fast little bite to eat for breakfast (bagels..muffins...coffee..juice)...then its time for everyone to work independently on their own projects..we take a mid morning a break to do a small project...usually a card...
Then more independent work time...(we don't even bother to stop for lunch.....food schmood...who needs to eat!...when you're having a nice time AND creating...without phones ringing....doorbells ringing.....dogs to walk... errands to run...laundry to do...kids to drive here and there..dinner to cook etc)
In the afternoon we take another break for a "mini workshop" ....usually some sort of scrapbook related project..(a book..album..scrapbook page...)... then back to working independently until 3 when the daytime session ends..
Then there is a strategically planned "dinner break"..and as luck would have it...my town has a Michael's right down the road from the church hall that we rent... and so while some of us "eat in"...some of the ladies run down to Michael's "browse".. (aka "shop")

Then at 4:30 we start the evening session.....the "Cards only Workshop"...and when that is over at 7"30...we are often feeling like we'd like it to go on for another few hours... (*thus our "talking" about doing a "Pajama Party/All Nighter"...as well as thinking about a weekend get-a-way)

And as if the full Saturday once a month isn't quite a few hours to scrap and card make.. we have now started a weekday get together as well for Card Making.

It's hard to imagine that a year ago that I had just started a group via Meetup.com...and wondered if anyone would join... (none of us knew one another prior to last October)...
now...we not only share our love of scrapping and card making...but we have also been blessed in sharing such nice friendships with one another...

..and a nice bonus is that I get to share what I know and love...share my tools and little tricks of the trade...and favorite products etc... and teach others.
The greatest reward comes in seeing the ladies all progress and share a tremendous amount of enthusiasm for everything I share..as well as for what they share with one another.. (none were card makers a year ago...they were all scrappers)

Tomorrow I'll post a pic of the little mini album we will also be making..(like the pic posted below)

PS..i LOVE LOVE LOVE these Nesties" Autumn" (Leaves and acorn) dies...the embossing is fantastic ..the pic doesn't show the details very well..but the leaves are daubered with 3 different ink colors and look just like autumn leaves...

Garden Party "Seed Pocket Party Favor"

I've been so busy working on themed party creations as our Design Team celebrates the Cuttlebug Challenge's first birthday during the month of September!

My theme is "Garden Party and Butterflies"...and so...I have been having fun creating party items and coordinates that all center around a "Garden Party and Butterfly" theme...Youve already seen the invitation... gift card gift bag...goodie "suitcases" and birthhday card I've created....

I've been putting my Score-It Scoreboard, Cuttlebug, Coredinations Card Stock, Sakura Souffle Pens, lots of super dies and Provocraft embossing folders through quite a workout these last few weeks!

Whenever I host a party or gathering... I always like to send my guests home with a little memento that's significant to the day...gathering or event. Sometimes it's a home baked item, sometimes it's something from my garden...a gift boxed set of my cards...and this little favor pocket is perfect for just that!

Envelope-Style Pocket card

I love making pocket cards..or a card that's not a traditional fold.

This card was yesterday's "Cards Only Workshop' card...and was a big hit with the ladies who attended.

It was exiting for me to see the ladies (all of whom are fairly new to card making) enjoy creating a card that ventured away from a traditional A2 card..and that kind of "kicked it up a notch" for them..and added a new style card to their repertoire.

This was a Razzleberry workshop....(at each workshop everyone receives a different color full sized ink pad (of their own...to keep)...and we work with the coordinates ( prints, card stock etc). At this workshop we used Rich Razzleberry as our primary color and added Crushed Curry for a little bit of zing and contrast!

I was a little worried that the ladies wouldn't like the color combo...but it was a big hit (whew!)..as was the DSP/print paper.

This was our first "Weekday" workshop..(we usually meet on Saturdays...)..and although we were a small group..it was a terrific time with these awesome ladies....and this fun card project.....and now... we hope to make a weekday get together a regular part of our monthly workshop calendar.

Happy 1st Birthday to the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog!

This is an exciting and very busy month at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog as the 1st Birthday Celebration kicks off!

This weeks Wednesday Challenge starts it off with an invitation....and throughout the month...many projects and challenges will be presented...all dedicated to birthday celebrations!

I chose the theme "Garden Party"....and this is my invitation....a "spinner " card...that allows the basket of flowers to emerge as the card is opened...and then fold back into itself in the closed position.

I won't tell you that it was a fast card to make...
but I can tell you that it wasn't as difficult as it appears to be...
it was just a bit time consuming.... ONLY because it had numerous pieces (ie...the basket of flowers..and multiple layers of embossed and sanded Core'dinations card stock)...but the card itself is actually very simple to put together, once the pieces and die cuts are prepared.

I love how the basket of flowers pops out as you open the card...and then folds back into itself as the card is closed.... (I hope that the photos I've posted let you see this neat feature)

(This card measures 5 3/4 x 7 and requires a custom sized envelope)

If you're thinking that you might like to give it a try at home...these are the Sizzix and Nestabilties dies you''ll need:

*Sizzix XL Die: Spinner Card
*Sizzix XL Die: Basket and Blooms (used for the basket and tag)
*Sizzix BIGZ Die: Build a Flower (used for all flowers)
*Sizzix BIGZ Die: Lattice (used for lattice underlay on front of card)
*Nestabilities: Labels Four
*Nestabilities: Butterfly Die

All of the embossing ( flowers,, butterflies, lattice, label layers and green card stock inside of the card of the Core'dinations card stock were done with the Cuttlebug Victoria Embossing Folder... theDiamond Plate Embossing Folder was used on the basket and then then sanded to bring out the Core'dinations Color Core.

To simplify assembling the card, follow these steps (in this order)

1. Cut out and prepare inside of card (card stock layers only) * Cut to sizes that you'd like based on how much of the card base you'd like to show..and how much of mat edge you'd like
2 .Cut out Spinner Card Feature ...prefold on score lines as directed on pkg and set aside
3. Cut out, emboss, sand and assemble all flower parts.(I added button centers)
4. Hand cut 10-12 leaves and 6 flower stems from a piece of embossed green card stock
5. Cut out, emboss and sand 2 lattice die cuts and then cut each one in half diagonally to give 2 triangular pieces (I embossed and sanded after I cut out the die cut...but I am thinking it's wiser to emboss and sand first..THEN die cut...because this is a very fragile die cut)
6. Cut out, emboss and sand 2 butterflies from a die or punches of your choice( I used Nestabilties)
7. Cut out, emboss and sand 3 labels layers and assemble (using brads) after embossing and sanding
8. Assemble the basket of flowers, as you'd like

Now you're ready to assemble the card:

Cut card stock to 5 3/4 x 11...score and fold in half.
Card base will measure 5 3/4 x 5 1/2 (and will become 5 3/4 x 7 because the flowers extend beyond the edge of the card, forming a floral border on the right of the card, when the card is closed.

1. Stamp a Flourish style stamp randomly on the inside of the card to create a stamped background pattern
2. Layer plain (non-embossed card stock) first...then place next layer (embossed and sanded on top)
3. Assemble front of card as shown, using the 2 lattice die cuts that you've cut in half...as the 4 corners ...but do not attach the butterflies yet. *Add sentiment/greeting to smallest label
4. Fold, prepare, assemble and attach "Spinner Feature" as directed on pkg
5. Attach tag to basket (this is where I hand wrote the party and RSVP info)
6. Attach basket of flowers to "Spinner Feature"
7. Attach embossed and sanded butterflies to front of card

And DONE!

I created my own envelope from a pretty sheet of 12 x 12 paper for this custom sized card.

Don't be intimidated by this card...if you take it step by step..its really not a difficult card to make...

What to do if you don't own all of the dies I've used?
Well...If you don't have the Basket and Blooms die... you canuse some punches to create your flowers...
you can also hand cut a basket...and if you don't have a butterfly die or punch...you can put flowers on the front.
The lattice pieces can be replaced by using a piece of embossed card stock.
Labels can be replaced by using punches of various sizes...or matting multiple layers of card stock

YOU can create YOUR own variation of this fun card..

Let's Make an Accordion Fold Halloween Card with the Scor-it Scorebord

It's time for another Cuttlebug Challenge Blog Fab Friday TV Tutorial....and this episode is all about making this accordion fold card...using the Scor-it Scoreboard...

Wait 'til you see how easy it is to make this card...just in time for Halloween!

I know that there are lots of tutorials around for creating accordion folds...
and my personal little twist on this standard accordion fold is that you can create the card base for 2 of these cards..from one sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 card stock...and have them turn out as standard sized A2 cards... this is accomplished by adding the pumpkins on the edge of the card..which extends the size of the almost square scored card base...to make it an A2 card!
(most A2 accordion folds require that you use a whole sheet of card stock to get one card only....or attach another fold.. via an extension piece of card stock)

Back to School Altered Desk Set: Cuttlebug Challenge #46 and Cosmo Cricket

I have been so busy lately and haven't had any time at all to sit and enjoy some card making...scrapping...or anything related to papercrafting...

I did have time, tho, to work on our Cuttlebug Design team project for this week for the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog's be Inspired #46: Altered School Items

We had the wonderful opportunity to work on this project using fantastic Cosmo Cricket products .... as well as the always fantastic Core'dinations Color Core Card Stock

This desk set includes a mail holder basket, notebook, magnetic To-Do List/note pad and pencil set, an index card organizer case, personal address book and pencil.pen holder....all created with Cosmo's "Boyfriend" papercrafting kit.

All of the patterns and colors in this kit were beautiful and wonderful...and when I saw the pencil patterned paper..I just knew it would be ideal for this "school" themed challenge.

I used black card stock as the primary base for each piece to mimic a chalkboard....and built each project...paper layers and embellishments on the chalkboard base.

Ice Cream Sundae, anyone? Cuttlebug Challenge Blog Be Inspired Challenge #45: Shape Cards

This weeks Wednesday Be Inspired Challange over at the Cuttlebug Challange Blog was to create a shaped card...using a shaped card template from Paper Popsicles...

I don't work and create with shaped cards often...but I'm always up for a challenge..and change of pace..and anything that might expand the possibilities for me and add a little zip and zing to my repertoire ....and this weeks Cuttlebug Challenge Blog weekly challenge did just that!
I have to admit that I got off to a slow start....but once the idea came together in my mind it was a matter of committing to colors..and then the fun began and this is what I came up with...

I used an assortment of Core'dinations card stock in different colors,embossed with my Cuttlebug and an asst of folders... then sanded to reveal the color core..all of which added texture to define each "flavor" of ice cream (and the cherry) as I layered the card stock...and trimmed it to fit the template...

Two things come to mind when I look at the finished card....

#1. Working with a shaped template to make a card was fun...and now with "digtal EVERYTHING" becoming so popular...this opens up a whole new world of card shapes..sizes....themes etc...beyond what our die cutting machines can offer...

#2. Using Core'dinations Color Core card stock and some different Cuttlebug embossing folders is ideal for this card...because I look at it and think of how boring and "flat" it would have been with plain old card stock.

It's now been almost 2 months since I was invited to join the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog design Team..(and thus this little celebration and this Blog Candy)

Being on the Design Team is an experience that I feel fortunate to have...the Team is a gathering of wonderful individuals who all bring such creativity and their own unique styles to every project we work on...and as each week passes... I appreciate this DT experience on a different and new level..

I do hope that you'll continue to visit me here at my blog...and also at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog...
Theres so many fun and inspiring things going on at the Challenge Blog all of the time...really super challenges..great prizes...oodles of ideas and inspiration...and lots of special events...

What a fun Challenge this week at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog!

I really enjoyed creating this card...and as always...enjoyed using various embossing folders for added texture and interest.
If you know me at all..or visit my blog often....you already now that I am a HUGE Cuttlebug fan..I just LOVE embossing..and find myself wanting to emboss a little something on almost every card that I create...my Cuttlebug and embossing folders truly get a workout here at my house!

As if I am not addicted enough to embossing... I now have an added addiction....to enhance the original addiction...and this would be... Core'dinations card stock addiction...

The background card stock used on this card is from Core'dinations wonderful Whitewashed Collection...and even prior to sanding...it has a beautiful weathered look...but once its sanded...the color core emerges and the magic happens!
(You KNOW that I was on line the other day ordering...or shall I say....STOCKING UP (in a MAJOR WAY) on a stash on Core'dinations cs... I found mine at HSN and QVC (yes yes..I know..I am an enabler)

The truck(SU Loads of Love) was stamped out on DSP...and the black lines darkened with a black Stamp n Write marker, The trucks chrome was colored with a fine point silver paint pen (Prismacolor).

I hand cut the trees..(also from Core'dinations cs)..embossed and sanded them as well...

Once I had all of the card elements prepped and created..I used OODLES and OODLES of dimensionals to put this 3-D scene card together..

What a Day! (I won!! I won!!)

Holy cow! What a day!

When I checked my email etc this morning on my computer..something wasn't right with my computer...
By noon...it was dead....or about 80% dead...allowing me to only access a few things

Gary spent most of the day trying to revive it... but after an entire day of frustration..it's become apparent that I need a new computer...(hopefully tomorrow evening at this time I'll be back..with a brand spankin' new computer that will cooperate and do everything it's suppose to do...and then some! (I'll be looking for one that does laundry...and cooks..and makes beds!)

I was pleasantly surprised when I sat down at my barely alive.. and somewhat fickle computer... and found that I have some Internet access...(SOME being the operative word...because I can access some things...but not others)...

So what did I do??..Well..first I checked some emails and tried to respond to as many as I could...

Then...I fed my creative hunger..and started browsing some of my favorite blogs...

and....on one of my blog stops... I found out that I am the winner of the FANTASTIC blog candy at Jennie's Blog... "The Artistic Stamper"!

When I first saw Jennie's Blog Candy I was LOVING the seashell stamps...and started thinking of what I'd create with them..IF I was the winner...

Now..I'll have the opportunity to use them on some cards..and maybe a scrapbook layout...and some gift sets..and gift tags... and...and...and....

You've made a day that's been filled with computer problems and frustration...end wonderfully!

Another CB Challenge .... some Embossing....Core'dinations and a FREE Digi Download!!

This week, the DT at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog were asked to use a digital image from MlamarreDesigns. ...some wonderful Core'dinations cs...and of course..add some Cuttlebug embossing......and this is what I came up with...

The Cuttlebug Embossing folders and Core'dinations card stock are a match made in heaven!..I am going to have to make a conscious effort to NOT emboss and sand every piece of cs that I use from now on! (I LOVE the distressed look that's achieved by lightly sanding the embossed Core'dinations and allowing it's color core to emerge!)

I am awed and inspired by what my Design Team Sisters came up with...and I'm sure that you will be too... so take a peek HERE to see some wonderful cards...and then make your own card and be sure to enter this weeks challenge!

Cuttlebug Challenge Blog: Countdown to CHA~ Wednseday be Inspired Challenge # 41

If you're ready to get your socks knocked off with some off the wall amazing creativity you MUST visit the Cuttelbug Challenge Blog to see what the DT has whipped up for this week's challenge.....using the new Cuttlebug Victoria embossing folder!

This is my project for this weeks Be Inspired (Wednesday) Challenge...
I loved working with the Victoria folder ... it's swirls and flourish like pattern are so beautiful...

I found this oblong (11 x 4) acrylic frame at a craft store..and knew it would be ideal for my project...

The SU DSP is so wonderful...the colors so rich and deep...the prints so lovely...and SU's Cottage Wall DSP is beyond gorgeous...(I can tell it's going to be a fave of mine!)...

The note card holder part of this project is half of a clear (card) box covered and embellished with layers of DSP and Victoria embossed card stock.....some punched and a layered flowers..a little bit of bling....

then a fast wave of my magic wand...and... wha-la..it becomes a note holder!

(*I've tipped the frame/note holder upwards and back a bit to deflect a glare for the pic...but it the frame stands upright on it's own)

I'll be giving this to my Aunt Grace, who will be 89 this month...she is an amazing human being...is more 69 than 89...someone who is precious and dear to me...and has been an important part of my life since my childhood...

She has been missing my Mom (her sister) since my Mom passed away at the end of March...and so...instead of putting a post-it note pad on the outside of the left of the frame..(as I first thought I might)..I opted to put a picture of my Mom in that spot...

Tomorrow I'll post the other part of this project...which will also be given to my Aunt Grace as part of her birthday gift..

Christmas in July at our Monthly Workshop/Crop

This is the card that we made at the evening "Cards Only" workshop this past weekend...

For some of the ladies this was a first try at heat embossing...and I have to say...they did an awesome job with the embossing as well as applying the coarse snow-like glitter...It's been my pleasure to watch them build upon their skills each time we get together..

It was also a first in using the Sizzix (SU) Top Note die...as well as beautiful new Stampin Up set called "Scenic Season"...

We also used an old SU favorite...the pine branch from "Peaceful Wishes"....

Another week has flown by...and its time for the Weekly Inspirations Video.. I love some of the folds that my niece, Simone, used on these cards...and I think that this week, I am going to CASE some of the cards that are featured in this video...

Simone is busy with a baby and a little 4 year old..and is also packing up a house for a move to a bigger house..where she will even have a place for ALL of her card making "stuff"!... and even with all that she is busy with...she is always happy to help out and provide the cards for the weekly video..while i am sidetracked with card-a-thon business...THANKS SIMONE!

...sending my hugs and thanks to Simone..and also to Gary...who creates the video each week...(Gary I love this weeks music choice...I I think that the beginning is a bit "Pink Panther-ish!")

I really enjoyed working on this challenge...because as you know..I am a lover of my Cuttlebug and embossing folders...and this challenge gave me the opportunity to use 5 different folders on a white on white card...which allows you to see that texture can really add dimension and interest to a card...despite the absence of color

A Fast Hello....

Hi Everyone..

While I haven't had much of a chance to update my own blog..I have been "blurfing about" enjoying everyone else's blog updates... there is so much creativity out there..it's inspiring to see what other people create..

I am thoroughly enjoying being part of the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog Design Team...and have been keeping busy there with some projects and video tutorials... the creativity from the DT is amazing...and it's exciting to see the reveals of what all of the DT members have created each week... so be sure to check in there daily to see "what's cookin'"..to follow the fantastic tutorials..watch the videos...to give the challenges a try (such fun!)..and to have a chance to win a Cuttlebug machine (if you do all 4 July challenges)

I am still busy planning the Card-a-Thon...and have received lots of wonderful donations of supplies..and lots of wonderful colored images ..all of which will be a HUGE plus for the card makers in October when they actually make cards at the Card-a-Thon...

There is s till a tremendous need for adhesives..(double sided tape in dispensers... glue dots..adhesive runners etc)..
...if you'd like to make a donation of adhesives... it would be so very much appreciated!

Now I have to focus on promoting the event itself...invite volunteers to sign on...solicit advertising in local papers... and get the word out...because October will be here before I know it!

Spending time with a Friend....

My friend Isa became a Great-Aunt to a little nephew who was born in France...and she wanted to make a special card to send to his parents...(her nephew and his wife)..and thought that she'd like to make the white on white baby carriage card that I'd made and posted here a while ago...

So she came over the other day and we chatted..had some laughs...as we always do...we got out my Big Shot..and the Baby carriage XL die and I guided her thru the process of making the card...

At the end of our time together..Isa had created a wonderful white on white embossed baby carriage card...that was PERFECT!

I have to add...that approximately 6 months ago..Isa had never made a card..never scrapped a page....didn't own a single piece of card stock..had no tools...etc..

She came to one of my monthly Workshop/Crops with the intention of making a scrapbook...and discovered her love of card making and passion for paper during the morning mini workshop that I do at each Workshop/Crop...

and....Once Isa made her first card...the scrapbooking went by the wayside....her passion for card making arrived...and she has never looked back!

It's been my pleasure and joy to watch her enthusiasm for card making take flight..and it's been lots of fun being her personal "enabler"..introducing her to all sorts of things.. emailing her with links to sites and sales...inspiring her love of the Cuttlebug...and watching her excitement grow when she ordered her own...

But most of all..its been wonderful to see what she creates..
She is patient with herself and her creativity...and gives all of her projects intense attention and dedication...her cards are truly an artistic process to which she puts care in finding just the right elements...a dd to this, Isa's LOVE of gorgeous paper..and you've got the makings of a great card maker!

So I'm thrilled to post these photo's (with Isa's consent)..so that you can see the artist..and her work!

A Favotite Image of Mine....and a trip to the hardware store..

This stamp is one of my favorite images....I just think that the little girl is adorable..and her her tiny fingers picking up a seashell is so sweet....

I guess that maybe I am drawn to ocean...shore..beach images because I have lived near the ocean my entire life..growing up on one Island..and now living on another... ...both being places that bring breezes of salt air thru your windows...

This sweet image is one that I have played with now and then....trying different things...and I think that now I have finally found the nice combination of elements....

Fine gauge sandpaper...
and the addition of some tiny real seashells...

I also trimmed the image WITHOUT a white border...(I have been seeing a lot of that in magazines etc lately.....remember that technique of trimming from wayyyy back when ?)..and altho I almost always leave a white edge around my hand cut images.... I do like this one trimmed to the ink line...I then used dimensionals to place the on the card to give it a little bit of pop and depth...

I'm happy with this card...and can see myself heading down to the hardware store...to stock up on some fine gauge sandpaper so that I can make a few more cards just like this one...

My little project...and lots of others....

This is my first week as a DT member with the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog DT...all of whom dazzle me with their creativity and unique style of creating...

I am a genuine addicted card maker...and I was all set to make a card...and then..thought of stepping out of my own (usual) box....and so... I opted to do something that wasn't a card....and I have to say...my so choosing to do a "non-card" project was fun for me... and the challenge criteria of red.. white and blue with buttons and Swiss Dots left the door wide opened for all sorts of possibilities!....
In addition..some of the DT had the opportunity to work with one of the new release CB folders....and have given you a sneak peek of the Cuttlebug Stars folder..coming out SOON!

My project this week is the little clear envelope photo book...

I chose to do a baseball theme so that I could pass it on to my little great nephew, Connor...so that he can have a special place to save photos from his first season of playing T-Ball...

Yep..I've been keeping a BIG secret..and now I can finally spill the beans!

I've been invited to be to be part of the cuttlebugchallenge.blogspot.com Design Team!

This is very exciting news for me..especially being that the Cuttlebugchallenge blog is one of my favorite hang outs..and a source of tremendous inspiration for me..with past DT's being so talented and dazzling me all the time with what they create.

I am thrilled and humbled to be on a team with extraordinarily talented individuals....all of whom you can read about..and visit HERE..

I will be working on weekly projects with the team..and will also be working on video tutorials a few times each a month..the first of which can be seen at the challenge blog next Friday

So.... while being asked to join the DT is exciting for me, personally... but the blog itself has lots of excitement going on as well!

Life sure can be a Circus

Sometimes..just when you think things are rolling along nicely..smoothly..without commotion....or a hitch...the DRAMA kicks in and the tranquility of the day or the moment is eradicated in a flash..

Tuesdays drama:
(that I forgot to share here..but something that I know my Cuttlebug-Loving friends will appreciate):

I was making cards
...needed to emboss a piece of cs
...got out the Cuttlebug
...got out my embossing folders
...set it up
...starting turning the handle
my machine EXPLODED... yep..it EXPLODED..literally..
the casing of the machine was completely opened up..
I looked at the clock
8:35 pm
I immediately thought... "oh good, Michael's is still opened, I'll run down there for another CB"...
I was thinking...I don't care that I don't have a coupon..I'll pay full price...because anyone who knows me ...KNOWS that I cannot be without my Bug for even a day..
I announced the death of my Cuttlebug to Gary...in a voice reflective of grief and panic.

I looked at the machine..both side panels had exploded off of the machine as if dynamite was inside of it..the top panel was popped off...the handle was jammed.
I saw a piece of card stock stuck in the rollers...(I have no clue where the stray piece of card stock came from...)
I kind of thought that the pressure inside of the machine was too much with the card stock (origin unknown) jamming up the rollers..and that the "explosion" was the machines way of reacting to the internal pressure

so..it was me pulling the card stock in one direction.....and this Herculean strengthed piece of card stock pulling in the opposite direction...

I was determined to win.

(Now I was looking at the clock.. Michael's would be closing in about 15 minutes..)

I managed to get the card stock out of the rollers.. When i finally got it out..it looked like a piece of corrugated paper..completely wrinkled and shriveled up.

I popped the 2 side panels of the machine up..and clicked them into place..and did the same with the top/front panel..

and announced to Gary (in a now elated voice)that my Cuttlebug was alive and well..and working!

Whew.. if you could have seen that machine..with the sides laying down on the counter top...and the font panel popped off..you'd understand the grief and panic in my voice...I thought for sure the machine had died..

I told the ladies at my workshop.crop about it today..and they ALL..in unison..gasped in horror..)
(lol..we cracked up about that..it was really kind of hilarious...)

I am happy to tell you tho..that my Bug made a miraculous recovery.and immediately returned to work..full duty..and is performing as wonderfully as ever...

it was a close call tho...
and one that has served as a source of entertainment for us around here.....simply because we have had quite a few laughs over my love affair with my Cuttlebug..and my reaction to the "close -call" of it almost passing on to the great embossed heavens above...

like I said.. Life can sure be a circus....and this event was center ring...
but the Cuttlebug crisis was only surpassed by the gas -leak that tossed us out into a rainstorm today..during our workshop/crop..

but that's a story for another day...ring #2 of the 3 ring circus that life can sometimes be...

I've Suddenly Realized Something About Myself....

All of a sudden...I've realized something about myself...
and this is what it is: When I like, love and/or enjoy something A LOT...I have the need or desire to do it..have it..make it..eat it..see it..A LOT.

I started to think about this.... and "it" being part of who I am..and I think that I am onto something....after all..I've got evidence!

For example..I think that it all started when I lived in Europe..and was staying in Rome..I ate calamari for 23 days straight..everyday for lunch..at the same little restaurant near the train station...

I went thru a furniture moving kick once.. my Husband would leave for work and come home to find the furniture and piano moved and switched around..all the time...(all the time meaning multiple times per week)..that went on for months...

There are many other things that I can think of....things that I do in long enjoyable spurts..but...

In this case..I think I'm on a roll with layering and making punched flowers.. I just can't get enough of them...I ordered a great book, from Barnes and Noble, on making flowers from punches...have been picking up punches (now...I am obsessed with finding punches that punch out pieces that can be used to create flowers..(as per the book's suggestions)...Imagine needing a snowflake punch to make a flower? Yep!

So..this newest obsession is fun..and lately... I find myself always thinking of adding hand layered and assembled flowers to my projects..

In going with the flow of my latest passion and wonderful obsession.....I incorporated flowers in these quote card candy pieces that I needed to make for a scs 6+1 swap...

I LOVE the quote...and the color combo is one of my faves..
I'm happy with how these turned out...and making the flowers is not only fun..offering endless possibilities....but it's relaxing as well..

I have a feeling that you'll be seeing more flowers from me in some upcoming projects and cards..I AM HOOKED!

Gone Fishing On Golden Pond.....Cuttlebugchallenge Blog ~ Challenge #35

I visited one of my fave blogs the other day..(actually I visit there almost EVERYDAY)...and always on a Wednesday...to see what the challenge is..

Challenge #35 was...create a project based on your favorite movie.

So..if you know how my mind works..you'd know that I had an immediate flood of thoughts... because I don't have ONE favorite movie..I have MANY. (Don't we all??)..It's kind of like ice cream...how can someone expect us to choose JUST ONE flavor as a fave??

Then..once the onslaught of favorite movies slowed down to a simmer...I started thinking of On Golden Pond...
I think that On Golden Pond is a favorite of mine because it's a story about relationships (yes..the social Worker in me always likes a story about people..their lives..their trials and tribulations..the dynamics of their relationships....and what makes them tick...)..and I guess the additional appeal of the movie, for me, is that fact that it is about old, well seasoned and well weathered love..and portrays an aging couple...their connection to one another..and the evolution of their lives..as they age...and its portrayal of an adult child who still struggles for the approval of her parent..

The appeal of this movie, I think...for me...is that working with the elderly for so many years has reserved a special place in my heart for people who are aging..and perhaps journeying the end roads of their lives...

So...to me..On Golden Pond is one of those laugh a little/cry a little movies... and rightfully has earned a spot on my favorite movie list..(not to mention that the musical score is beautiful..and the lakeside scenery seems custom made
for daydreaming..

I love when Norman and (the young) Billy Ray go fishing...this is when and how they first came to "like " one another...again...it's the people thing..people and relationships..that makes me like that part of the movie..

..and so..I chose this image that reminds me of On Golden Pond...a movie that I have always loved..and enjoy watching over and over again...maybe because I see a little bit of myself in each of the characters..

A Little Bit of Time to Create...

This was a typical Saturday..some errands..some relaxation..dropping off..picking up..having a nice dinner out.(soft shell crabs are in season..so I was one happy girl when I saw them on the menu!)

I thought I was tired..but then got a second wind at about 11 p.m...and started thinking about the workshop projects I needed to prepare and try out for next weekend's Workshop/Crop and the evening Cards Only workshop session, as well.

So I put my unexpected wave of energy to good use... and used the time to work on prepping some materials and working on some projects for next weekends monthly Workshop/Crop.

And here I am...at almost 1 a.m...still WIDE awake...posting a card to my blog!

This card is the card that everyone will work on during the "Cards Only" evening session next weekend. It incorporates using punches to create embellishments

The group has been developing their skills at making embellishments..as opposed to buying premade/manufactured embellishments...so this card follows right along with building upon their skills..from week to week.

The scalloped and plain oval were punched as well as all of the layers and parts of the flowers...and the wonderful little butterfly..(a favorite punch of mine).
The green leaves are actually made from the SU 5 Petal Punch..cut so that 3 petals make a set of 3 leaves..and the other part of the flower..consisting of the remaining 2 petals..made the 2-leaf portion.

And of course you KNOW that I just had to use my Cuttlebug...my cards seem so naked when I don't emboss "something"...plus it is very popular with the workshop ladies.

This is a very simple card to make.and is ideal for using odd pieces of prints that you might have....and to that I'd like to add that the prints used here were not particularly nice looking or pretty....yet when used as a scalloped mat and punched into smaller pieces for layered flowers....it kind of looks nice.and makes me think of all of the so-so/not too pretty prints that I have..and shy away from using.

Weekly Inspirations...x's 2

I have 2 Inspirations to tell you about today...

My daughter, Chelsea , was out all night (camping out with about 800 other people on the high school football field) at Relay for Life..a Cancer fund raiser that went on at schools nationwide, last night.....
Relay for Life memorializes those who have had cancer and did not survive..as well as honoring survivors...like myself...

Chelsea was on a "team" with her Thespian Troupe..and they, themselves, raised thousands of dollars..had lots of fun...slept outside under a full moon..and kept the relay going all night by making sure that members of their team kept walking around the track constantly throughout the night..

Chelsea told us that it was so beautiful..with the entire track outlined with hundreds of luminary candles in the darkness of the night..

I listened to her telling us all about the entire event..after we picked her up this morning at 5:30...it all sounded so nice..so well planned..so wonderful..and like such fun...

and then....from the back seat ...Chelsea handed me a purple sash..and said that she wore it all night....as she walked... to honor me..her survivor...

and then..(as I am now a I type this..) I lost it..and had myself a big old sobbing cry...only to be topped off by her telling me that she and her friend David lit a candle and had their time of silence..sitting outside in the dark...surrounded by hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of glowing candles..with their candle...( for me..and for David's Grandma who has died)...Chelsea also dedicated her candle and thoughts to my husband, her dad (David) who died in 2001.

It's hard for me to even type this here....and to see the keyboard ....without crying..this touched me deeply..for so many reasons..the sash..the candle lighting..the moments of silence..and the vision of Chelsea and all of her friends rallying together..for people...like me...who live..and have died..with cancer...

Many days...I think...I'd like not to have Cancer at all...but IF I must..I'll stick with the one I have...while I don't trust my cancer..because it's sneaky..and can suddenly get me from behind without warning..I am smart enough to know..that thus far..I have been blessed with a life that has been minimally compromised by what I have...

Chelsea wants me to be involved with Relay for Life next year..as her Survivor...and I've already said yes.....I will volunteer to be a speaker at the event....With God's blessing..I hope to be here next year...alive..living life to its fullest..and speaking amongst the glow of the candles...to others who will participate to celebrate life with cancer.....or to memorialize those whom they love who's spirits endure and live on....despite their physical absence.

Thank you Chelsea for inspiring me..and for being a sterling example of a young teen..who has an acute social awareness..and a desire to "give" of herself..you have touched me by wearing a purple sash on my behalf...and by caring enough to be part of this wonderfully successful fund raiser...
YOU are what makes being a survivor..a cherished gift...

And now....on to the "regular" weekly inspiration!
My niece Simone is still filling in for me by providing the Weekly Inspirations cards..and I think that you'll find lots to like..and lots of inspiration in the cards on this weeks video...

YAY!! I finally found some time to make some cards!

Now I feel like I'm back to being my old self!!!...
I actually had time today to make some cards...and yes...you guessed it...they were All White Cards...for Ruth's Swap on SCS...
I think that this may be the 10th (or is it the 11t??) card/spot I have in that swap...(yes, yes...I know...you've seen all of the cards right here on my blog..)

I know that I've said this each time that I've posted one of the all white cards..so I'll apologize for being repetitious ....but this swap has been inspiring..fun..and so enjoyable..when I first signed on for one spot..I never dreamed that I'd keep going back for additional spots...

This was an enjoyable card to make...I liked working with the white Staz-on ink on the transparency....in "my day" they called it "acetate'(yes I'm old enough to say ..."in my day"...lol)..and as if liking the white Stazon-on wasn't good enough...I whipped out my Sizzix Daisies die..and my best buddy...my Cuttlebug....

I cut the daisies out..then embossed them with one of my favorite folders (Textile Textures)....curled all of the petal edges downward ....layered the flowers and put them together with Zip Dry Paper Glue (I love that stuff for assembling and layering flowers....and sometimes for applying small floral embellishments ....its easy to use and dries in a flash..and I DO mean a FLASH!)

I gave a lot of thought to how NOT to have any adhesive showing when I attached the flower..or the paper part of the card to the transparency..so I opted to use the transparency as a jacket..over a smaller card...the inside card is attached to the transparency with glue dots UNDERNEATH the flower...so you can't see them at all..and it also gives the "giver" a place to write a note..on the inside of the underlying card...(which by the way..I embossed the TOP ONLY of, with the CB Swiss Dots embossing folder)

Ending my White Swap cards with this particular card is a nice way to end something that's been so enjoyable.....because this was a fun card to make..

Cuttlebug Challenge : "Butterflies and Hearts - Be Inspired #32"

Was I ever happy and excited to see the Cuttlebug Challenge this week at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog...because I am loving my Sizzix Beautiful Butterflies die...

I have been enjoying participating in Ruths's All White Swap ...and together with my SCS pal Sue...we have enjoyed ourselves so much that we currently have 11 spots in the swap..

When you are using only white..detail and interest come from layering... texture..embossing...dimension...

Being involved with this swap has been inspiring..and has led me in the direction of exploring the possibilities that exist when you incorporate a mixture of embossed patterns...using die cut shapes..and embossing them as well..layering them..and using dimensionals ....all of which can create depth and interest without the use of color...I think that the greatest tool for creating all white cards is the Cuttlebug...

When I'm not creating all white cards...my Bug gets a daily workout...but since my involvement with this swap..my poor little Bug is working overtime...and so have all of my folders..

For this particular challenge (#32), I went back to a card that I created for Ruth's swap...I played with it a bit..switched things up....more butterflies..less butterflies...small butterflies..a larger butterfly....thoughts of using heart(s)...this embossing pattern and folder/that embossing folder..different border and corner punches...
you name it..i tried it...
but I kept coming back to my original sketch and details...because nothing felt as "right"...

and so this is my Cuttlebug Challenge #32 card....

it was as much fun to make this time around..as it was the first time...

I have been TRYING to de-clutter my crafting life..(specifically my card-making life).....and spent much of this week, so far, puttering around with my "things"..cleaning up...cleaning out..and reorganizing a bit..I've made significant progress..but as my friend Louise's dad would say....my accomplishment is "a bucket of sand out of Coney Island"

and so...the "job" continues..one bucket of sand at a time...

I did find time to make a few cards...and have been relaxing..coloring some images....using the watercolor pencil and baby oil technique....(of which i am a HUGE fan of..by the way...)

Gary has been busy too..and so this week's Inspirations Video is a few days late...but well worth waiting for...because I think that the cards that my niece Simone provided for this weeks video are gorgeous!...I think that you'll agree...

Last of the White on White Swap Cards

Whew!

I FINALLY found some time for cardmaking...and thought I'd utilize the time to make the #10 card for Ruth's All White Swap...

I recently ordered/received the Sizzix Bigz XL Baby carriage die and wanted to use it....and so this Baby Carriage Card is the first things I've created with this die...
(I am already having visions dancing in my head for the next time I use this die...and am thinking of using some pretty prints to piece together the carriage..

It's always fun mixing embossed patterns on one card...and so I used the CB Textile Textures and Swiss Dots embossing folders (my 2 all time fav folders I think) .
I also used this card as an opportunity to make and use some little flower buds that I enjoy making with a quilling tool and punched out circles of card stock....they're easy to make...and the possibilities are endless with regard to colors and patterns etc..
in this case tho...I was doing an all white card...so the flowers are white as well..and have a dab of Crystal Stickles in the center (hard to see in this pic..I know)

If you're looking at the carriage hood and wondering which embossing folder that is(?)...
well..it's one of the new embossing folders from Quickutz...I recently ordered 10 of them..and have to say..they're ALL very oo-la-la-ish!

And finally..I wanted to gussy up the carriage a little bit...beyond embossing..yet didn't think that *bling was the way to go...so I added tiny drops of ranger Liquid Pearls...in Opal... to the embossed pattern on the carriage hood.

This being my last All White Swap Card..I am now looking forward to working with color again...and some of the gorgeous DSP that I have ..that has been neglected lately!
But I can't let this post end without saying that the All White Swap was so much fun...and has left me knowing that all white cards will always be part of my repertoire... something that I enjoy creating...

I had made this card for the White on White swap I am doing...and it immediately came to mind for this Challenge...
When I made the swap cards..I forgot to make an extra card to save for myself....so I made another..following the sketch etc of the card I did for the swap...

I am a Cuttlebugging lunatic..so it was fun making this card again...especially after not making cards for about a week...

Happy Mother's Day (a day late!)..and a Weekly Inspirations Video

This past week was a hectic one for me...with little time for creating...or posting to my blog...and little time to browse my favorite blogs to see what everyone else has been up to...

so...although a day late...I'd like to say...Happy Mothers day to everyone..
I hope that your day was as nice as mine..
Gary and Chelsea truly made my day special...(they totally indulged me with taking me to a local LSS a few towns away..
I'd never been there before..and loved browsing and treating myself to more than a few goodies!....then...we had dinner out..and then a nice relaxing night at home...

I would like to take one moment and a small piece of my blog to remember my mom who passed away on March 29th...this was our first Mother's Day without my Mom...without her insisting that I do not buy her a gift....without her appreciating a card..or mini scrapbook of cherished pictures I'd made her....or (pretending) to be upset that we DID buy her a gift...and the first year of me not stopping at my favorite little nursery here in town to pick up a beautiful plant for my Mom..who had the magic touch with plants and flowers...(I obviously DID NOT get that gene from her..because I am dubbed the "plant murderess"...in other words..if it's green? and alive?....and you'd like it to stay that way(?)..you won't want to give it to me..
This was also a Mother's day without me (jokingly)reminding my Mom that she is the luckiest Mother in the world..because I am her daughter (haha)....to which her response would always be.....

"Oh I'm the luckiest Mother twice..because I have 2 beautiful children"...(meaning my brother Michael and I)....I'd then say..."you're right Mom..but I was the cuter baby"...we'd crack up laughing and then she would always follow by reflecting and reminiscing about where the years had gone..because she felt like it was just yesterday that she gave birth to her children...

I guess this was our little "thing"..because we had this conversation for years...

but despite the huge void left by my Mom's absence..my day was a nice one...and for this..I am grateful..

...thank goodness....my niece Simone is continuing to "save the day" for me by generously providing pics of her cards for the Weekly Inspirations video...

Each week she wows me with what she has created...and with so little time to make cards myself..seeing what she has done makes me REALLY wish I had a block of time to get out my "things" and immerse myself in some card making...

so... for now..I'll enjoy seeing what Simone is making..and will grab some inspiration from her....as I hope you do, when you watch this video!

Keeping Busy.....and saying Thank You

It's so nice to be back and posting on my blog...after a few days of being side-tracked with lots of other things...

...sadly I haven't had time to create...but I have been working on the Card-a-Thon...and reorganizing my own "stuff"...

The donations for the Card-a-Thon have all been wonderful! Every package , box and envelope that I have received has been filled with so many wonderful, beautiful and useful donations for the Card-a-Thon...

It's been a while since I've posted a donation pic..and said thank you...I've got quite a bit of catching up to do with regards to words of thanks..and pictures...

So today I'm sharing what Joan (a scs friend) has donated...

Joan!...everything that you sent is fantastic!..so many great embellishments..ribbon...and the BIG stack of card fronts will be so useful in helping give a "head start" to volunteers who aren't card-makers ..so that they , too, will be able to put together some terrific cards that day!

The Cutest Little Purse You've Ever Seen!

Is this purse not THE cutest little purse you've ever seen?

This Sizzix die cuts the purse (without embossing..of course), as well as an insert page.
It makes a great little purse-card...or if you use multiple insert pages..you can make a mini book...

I cut the purse in SU So Saffron cs and them embossed it with one of the Texturz plates
The vine is also a Sizzix die...cut in Certainly Celery..and the flowers are layered with DSP punches from the SU Boho Blossoms punch...(I'm always making these flowers it seems...probably because with a little DSP..you can make flowers to match your project in a flash!)

This was a fun and different card project to make.....and so... I'm going to share it with the ladies at next weekend's Workshop/Crop..and allow them the opportunity to have fun using the Big Shot....Texturz plates...dies and punches to create their own purse card!

(For some reason..the color of the purse in the insert pic is wayyyy off.....the photo of the purse is a better reflection of what a beautiful color co So Saffron truly is.)

Wow! What a Wonderful Surprise!

A few weeks ago ...a SCS friend, Heidi, invited me to join a Paper Craft Planet Group... KL Stampin n Scrappin Girls..and suggested that I enter one of my cards in a challenge there...

I have to say..PCP intimidates me..for some odd reason I know my way in and out of SCS....and I zip from place to place on SCS without a problem....but I just cannot find my way around PCP at all..I have a hard time navigating that site....and...IF I DO find something I was looking for..chances are...I won't know how to find my way back to it...I have no sense of direction on PCP...

I did join the group tho..and i DID need some guidance from Heidi with uploading my photo of the White on White Flower Pot to the correct challenge folder.... (suffice it to say..she is a kind and patient person.)

Well....the cards in the challenge were ALL absolutely wonderful...the kind that "knock your socks off"....I found them to be inspiring..as well as beautiful...and I also liked the group itself..nice chatter..friendly atmosphere....

and so I've been visiting there often..and have begun to find my way around PCP..

This morning..I found out that my White on White Flower Pot card is the winner of the April Challenge that Heidi was hosting there...the prize.......a Magnolia Stamp (YAY!!) and a Cuttlebug Folder (YAY!!).....were offered by Kelly of KL Stampin n Scrappin Store

So off I went to their website...where I had coincidentally filled a shopping cart last night (while I was up all night because I couldn't sleep).....filling a cart wasn't difficult with the stamps they have in stock and some wonderful adorable pro-order items....everything that Kelly offers at her web store is fantastic!..so if you haven't been there yet...go HERE..to see what she has to offer!

The Card-a-thon is coming along nicely...the Oceanside First United Methodist Church has been so kind in donating their church hall for the day..October 11th...

Some of the ladies who attend the Workshops/Crops that I organize every month have offered to help out with prepping materials..and at our May Workshops/Crop..they will begin taking home card stock to cut..score..etc....all of which is a HUGE help!

I have been receiving donations...primarily from SCS-ers and blog visitors who have contacted me and offered to "clean-out" their personal stashes..box it up..and send it to me....everything has been wonderful..and in looking thru the boxes..I see all sorts of things that will be useful and appreciated that day....

Donations from "companies" has not been as successful...
Most tell me that the economy has forced them to limit donations...other have told me that I am not a "large charity organization"..and have declined the invitation to donate...2 "companies" have donated thus far...

In as much as i was SO pleased to have such generous product donations from Diana and Marcie...the poor response from companies is a disappointment..considering the dozens and dozens of companies that I have contacted (that we all know and give our business to)

....but I am not one to become discouraged..and so I'll continue to contact companies..(there are oodles of them out there..)..in hopes of a better response...

IF you are an individual and would like to make a donation...the primary..and largest need right now is for the following:

***ADHESIVES: double sided tape (in dispensers)...glue dots/all sizes...adhesive runners (snail style...Xyron..Tombow etc)

***Pre-cut and scored A2 cards in white, ivory and LIGHT colors (so that the soldiers can use a reg pen to sign the inside)

*** Colored images (all types) that are matted on one additional layer of (any color) card stock (punched, hand cut, nestied) and ready to go

***Card stock (all colors) cut to 4 x 5 1/4...for card fronts and Cuttlebugging
OR if you love your BUG like I do..Cuttlebugged cardstock (all colors) 4 x 5 1/4 that had been Cuttlebugged

Donations of these 4 items is essential to the success of this event..and remain the biggest challenge thus far.

I am Loving the Bigz Beautiful Butterflies Die....

Yesterday I mentioned that I am loving my BIGZ Beautiful Butterflies die...I like the shape of the full butterfly itself..and the size...and as if loving it isn't enough...I had to run the butterfly thru my Cuttlebug..and so now... I'm totally bonkers for it..

and speaking of bonkers....I am still going crazy with Ruth's White on White swap..I think I made an error when I posted yesterday's white card...when I said it was card #9...that was actually card #8...and today's butterfly card is #9...
(...I guess you KNOW that you're over the edge with White on White Swap cards when you can't keep track of how may you've done...lol)

I like to use dimensionals when layering different CB patterns....because I think it brings out the textures and contrasts more...and so I used dimensionals on the photo corners...and flipped the butterfly wings up...for added depth.

And now.... off to the drawing board for White on White card #10...

Well...I've been keeping a low profile about it..but now the truth is out..

I have secretly been working on white on white cards for Ruth's swap..in which I now have 10 spots...(lol)..yes..you read it right..10 spots!

I figured that if I openly confessed to taking a few More spots, I'd be written off as being insane...but I am thoroughly enjoying working with white...and so..with some egging on from my SCS friend and co-hort, Sue....we have both signed on for 10spots!...

Sue is actually one spot behind me now..at #9...but I suspect that she will be joining me for #10 very soon!

This card is for my #9 spot in the swap...and was a fun card to make...

I am LOVING the Sizzix Bigz Beautiful Butterflies Die...and am exploring mixing CB embossed patterns/textures and layers..and enjoying it tremendously!

Workshop Card Variation: For those who don't need "Guy Cards"

This is the feminine version of yesterdays Guy Cards for the May Workshop..

This card is made with the same materials and basic techniques as yesterday's masculine cards.. (su cs: choc chip, always artichoke, very vanilla...the ink is su classic choc chip...)....the only difference is the feminine image ..and addition of a bauble on the hat...and the card base is ivory.

I think that most people need a guy card now and then..but...just in case one/some the ladies isn't fond of "guy cards"..I wanted to have something for them to work on..and this is what I came up with...(I acquired this stamp on a SCS PIF thread...and love it because it's a vintage style image)

May Workshop: Cards for the Guys.....(and "Home Sweet Home" Challenge Card)

Masculine cards always seems to be scarce...even when I make cards..I find that most of them are on the feminine side...the cutesy side...the girly side...

Some days,I make a conscious choice to make "guy cards" only...and actually..I just swapped out and mailed the cards for a Masculine Card Swap that I hosted on SCS... which, by the way..were all fantastic..and inspiring!

For my May "Cards Only" Workshop..I thought I'd have everyone give "guy cards" a try....afterall..Father's Day is getting near..and there's always a need for guy-ish birthday cards...

At the Workshops..we always make 2 variations..using the same materials/supplies/stamp set)

The challenge is that most of the people coming are beginner card makers..and haven't yet tried precise matting,...coloring..2-step stamping...so we are at the beginning stages of learning card making...

Yet..it is my desire and focus..to have them leave each Workshop, having made cards that are NOT easily identifiable as being "beginner" cards...and having them WOW themselves with what they have created and accomlpished..

In May...I wanted to
*make "guy cards" with an ink only" image
*not induce frustration with techniques that are too complex....and keep it all very basic and simple..
*use the SU "Backwoods" stamp set
*create a "background" paper by using a stamp and ink
*incorporate paper tearing (and distressing) ....a simple new technique for the group
*introduce shading using ink and daubers
*use a small asst of materials..also to minimize being overwhelmed with things like color combos...embellishments
*enjoy using the Cuttlebug..(hard to see here.. but the base layer of choc chip cs is embossed with leafy branch)

and so...these are the "guy cards" that we will be making at the May Cards only Workshop..

*I'm double dipping with the log cabin card and will also use it as my entry for the Cuttlebugchallenge Blog weekly challenge #28.......because it was inspired by the blogs Wednesday "Home Sweet Home" challenge...

*Tomorrow I will share the optional "feminine" version..using the same basic materials...but a different stamp/sentiment..which will be offered for those who might not have a need for masculine cards..

PS...If you like using natural hemp like it do...you MUST look for a ball/spool of Natural Hungarian Hemp in your local hardware store or in the odds and ends aisle of your supermarket!
This hemp is fantastic...and one spool will last you a lifetime....and the cost is under $2...

Not Half Bad......I guess..

I have a few things that remind myself to do...every so often...(and I usually approach it with the same lack of enthusiasm as a teenager being told to clean their room)
#1. I deliberately pick out a stamp set that I have long forgotten about...and make a conscious effort to us it.
#2. I go through my INSANE stash of paper...and commit to using at least some of what was left in a paper pack or pad...that I was not particularly crazy about.
#3. I WADE thru my endless collection of embellishments..(the "leftovers")..and pick a handful of things out..and promise myself that I'll use them.

Sometimes. I pick only one of the dreaded tasks above..and sometimes..I commit to combining a few of the things listed above..in making a few ..or even one card...
The reason I say "dreaded" is because I think that we are all pretty much alike...we LOVE certain things that we have...and enjoy using it/them...but we always have the things that we weren't loving that much..and it lays there..unused...(* and the REAL craziness ceoms because we all also have the things that we love..but hate to us e because we don't want to run out of it...and never have it again..lol...but ony,a REALLY good card making/scrapping friend will disclose this insane thought process to you..and vice versa)

This card is one of "those cards"...

The print paper was one that I looked at and thought....ewwww..that'd never ,make a nice card...and so a few sheets of it from a 12/x 12 pad were here..being ignored.

The layered flower is "leftover pieces" from a HUGE box of flower parts that I bought from QVC, when they had one of their all day Paper Crafting Shows...the orignal pkg had about 500 flower parts...some were beautiful..and I used them up in a flash...some were just "ok"..and I used them as well..and some were ridicuulousy horrendous and suitable ONLY for the trash can, in my opinion...

These parts were in the "just ok" category.and have been sitting here..unused for years...

So this is my "leftover card...made with bits and pieces of materials and supplies that I had long ago abandoned...

in the end...I'd have to say..."it ain't half bad'!

CAS meets Piercing...

Every so often I go on a piercing kick...

I love CAS cards..gussied up with some piercing...

I find it to be so relaxing..and I really like the look..

I first fell in love with piercing in 1989 when my husband and I went to Bucks County (PA) for a long weekend....I remember that we stayed at a Victorian Bed and Breakfast called The Wedgewood Inn...

Bucks County is a wonderland of fantastic shopping places..lots of Inns..bed and breakfast places..local theater....soem tourist type places like "Washington's Crossing"..and a wonderful outdoor "Craft" Fair with an extraordinary group of Artisans who sell what they create...their unique work and creativity and skills can knock you over..

There is also a little shopping area there called "Peddler's Village..with nice little shops of all sorts...set up in a group..like a small little village with walking streets

This is where I found a gorgeous little lamp with a pierced shade ....in a shop called The Shady Lady...when that lamp was turned on..the shade was so beautiful....I had that lamp..with the pretty shade... until a few years ago..when we remodelled the house..when the contractor moved it....broke the base of the lamp..and crushed the shade...(kind of a sad day for me..because I always loved that lamp and the way it looked when lit up...)

I always say...if I ever go back to Buck's County...I'll make a bee-line for The Shady lady and replace that lamp...(and maybe buy a few others)...

Piercing is so relaxing...and it adds a nice touch to CAS cards..either as a focal point..or as a small detailed touch for interest and texture....

So what do I think about piercing?...(as if you haven't already gathered)

I'd lean towards saying...its wonderful...puts your head in a "happy place" as you immerse yourself in it......and can be addictive...
(kind of like ice cream!)

Giving Spring a Helping Hand....

It seems that Spring just doesn't want to come to Long Island this year!..
this card seems to be as close to Spring as we will get today...because it's (another) dreary, rainy...cold day...
Sunshine and warmer days seem to not be able to find us!...

This card is a pot pourri of products...Stampin Up DSP and image and cs (gussied up with the SU scallop egde punch and CB-ed with Swiss Dots...PTI ribbon, GP 110 white cs with a Nestied cut/edge...and of course..my beloved aquapainter and SU classics for color.

As for Spring(?)...I guess that for now..this sunny yellow flower seems to be as much Spring as I'll be getting today!
